What is mine

Every article on this site is written by me. The illustrations are generated and edited by me. Unless a page says otherwise, all of it is copyright Saurav Sinha and is protected under Indian copyright law and international copyright conventions.

What you may do without asking

  • Read, share and link to anything here.
  • Quote a passage, up to around 200 words, for review, comment, teaching, journalism or research, with my name on it and a link to the article.
  • Use an article in a classroom, with attribution.
  • Print a copy for your own use.

What you may not do without asking

  • Republish an article in full or in substantial part, anywhere, including translated.
  • Sell or place behind a paywall anything from this site.
  • Use the text or images to train a commercial machine learning model.
  • Present the writing as your own, or as written by someone else.
  • Scrape the site in bulk.

If you want to do something not covered above, ask. I am reasonable about it, and for teaching and non-commercial use the answer is usually yes.

Material that is not mine

Where an article quotes a primary text, a translation, or published scholarship, that material belongs to its author, translator or publisher and is used in brief, with attribution, as fair dealing for the purpose of criticism, review and research. If you hold rights in something quoted here and think the use goes beyond that, write to me and I will look at it straight away.

If your work appears here without permission

Send a notice to sauravsinha@talesfromtime.com with the subject line Copyright Notice, including:

  • Identification of the work you say has been infringed.
  • The exact URL on this site where it appears.
  • Your name, address and email.
  • A statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorised by you, your agent or the law.
  • A statement that the information in the notice is accurate, and that you are the rights holder or authorised to act for them.
  • Your physical or electronic signature.

I will acknowledge within 48 hours and, where the claim holds up, remove or correct the material promptly. I do not need a lawyer’s letter to take something down that should not be there.
