Why there are ads here at all
Tales From Time is written by one person and given away. There is no paywall, no membership tier and nothing gated. Advertising is what pays for the hosting and for the time.
I would rather tell you that plainly than let you work it out from the layout.
Current status
There is currently no advertising on this site. I have applied to the Google AdSense programme. When ads go live, this page will be updated with the date, and the cookie policy will list the advertising cookies in use.
Where ads appear, and where they do not
Ads appear in fixed positions around the article, and they are labelled. They will never be placed to look like part of an article, never be dropped into the middle of a sentence or a source list, and never be formatted to resemble a headline or a link to another piece here.
If you cannot tell whether something on this site is an ad or something I wrote, that is a failure on my part. Tell me and I will fix it.
Editorial independence
No advertiser has any say in:
- which topics, discoveries or figures I write about
- what an article concludes
- where I draw the line between documented record and unverified story
- whether a correction gets made and logged
Nobody pays for coverage here and nobody ever will. I do not accept sponsored posts, paid links, paid guest articles or link exchanges. If that ever changes, this page changes before anything is published.
Affiliate links
There are currently no affiliate links anywhere on this site.
If that changes, I will say so here, and any article containing one will carry a note at the top. I would only ever link a book I had actually used in the research for that article, and the link earning a commission would not change whether I recommended it.
